Inside a channel

Take part in a channel conversation — post formatted messages, reply in threads, attach an image or PDF, see who's a member, and read a channel's details on the About tab.

Purpose

This is the conversation itself: how to post, reply in threads, attach a file, and find your way around a channel's Messages and About tabs.

When you use it

Any time you're actually talking in a channel — asking a question, answering one, sharing a document, or starting a focused side-thread off a particular message.

Posting and replying

  1. 1

Write a message. Type in the composer at the bottom (it reads Message #channel-name). Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links, bulleted and numbered lists, quotes, and code blocks. The Aa button hides or shows the toolbar.

  2. 2

Send. Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line — the hint "Enter to send · Shift+Enter for newline" sits under the composer.

  3. 3

Mention someone. Use the @ button to start a mention.

  4. 4

Attach a file. Use the attachment button to add a single image (JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP) or a PDF, up to 10 MB, per message. Images preview inline; PDFs show as a download chip. Remove a staged attachment with its × before sending.

  5. 5

Reply in a thread. Hover a message and click the reply icon to open the Thread panel on the right, then reply there ("Reply…"). Threaded messages show a "replies" indicator on the original so conversations stay tidy.

Reading the timeline

The timeline groups consecutive messages from the same person and separates days with Today / Yesterday / date dividers. Messages you've edited show an (edited) marker, and a removed message shows [message deleted] in place. You can delete your own messages from the hover actions (a confirmation appears first).

Members and details

  1. 1

Members. Click the people-count in the channel header to open the Members panel. Members are listed by role — Owner, Manager, then Member — with role badges, including a label for anyone auto-added by their conference role.

  2. 2

About. The About tab shows the channel's description, topic, scope (conference / program / event), type (public or private), member count, and status. Owners and Managers can edit these settings and Leave channel is available here too.

Tips

Use threads to keep the main channel readable

When a message sparks a detailed back-and-forth, reply in a thread rather than the main timeline. The discussion stays attached to its message, and the channel doesn't fill up with one topic's replies.

One attachment per message

Each message carries a single attachment (an image or a PDF, up to 10 MB). To share several files, send them across a few messages, or post a link to a shared location.
