Folders

Organize Webmail with your own folders — create sub-folders, rename and delete them, and drag to reorder. Understand the built-in conference folders (Inbox, Sent, Trash per program) and the read-only Deleted Programs archive.

Purpose

Webmail's folder tree mixes folders that are built for you with folders you build yourself. This page covers both: the automatic conference structure, and the custom folders you create to file mail your own way.

The folders you get automatically

  • Starred and Flagged — global smart folders that gather everything you've starred or flagged, wherever it lives.
  • My Mailbox — your personal folder, always available and independent of any conference.
  • Conference folders — each conference you're part of expands into its programs, and each program into Inbox, Sent, and Trash. This is where a conference's mail naturally sorts itself.
  • Archive — appears the first time you archive a message.
  • Deleted Programs — a read-only archive. If a program you had mail in is removed, its folders are preserved here, labelled with the date they were deleted, so nothing is lost.

Creating and managing your own folders

  1. 1

Create a sub-folder. Right-click a folder and choose New Sub-folder, then name it. The new folder is created in the context you clicked — a personal folder under My Mailbox, or a program-scoped one under a conference's Inbox or Sent.

  2. 2

Rename or delete. Right-click a custom folder you created to rename or delete it. (The built-in Inbox, Sent, and Trash folders can't be renamed or removed.)

  3. 3

Reorder by dragging. Drag a custom folder up or down — a blue line shows where it will land. System folders and the conference/program headings stay put; only your own folders move.

  4. 4

File mail into it. From a message's toolbar, use Move to Folder and pick your folder. See Reading & organizing.

Tips

Two kinds of custom folder

A folder you make under My Mailbox is personal and follows you across every conference. A folder you make under a conference program's Inbox or Sent is scoped to that program — ideal for sorting one event's mail without cluttering the others.

Deleted programs are kept, not lost

If a conference removes a program, any mail you had there moves into the read-only Deleted Programs archive (stamped with the deletion date) rather than disappearing. You can still read it; you just can't add to it.
