Web Chair Console

A map of the Web Chair Console — the five tabs you use to run your conference's public web presence, from announcements to the CFP directory listing.

Last updated: 2026-06-28

The Web Chair Console is where you manage your conference's public-facing web presence — announcements, discussion channels, the conference website, the Call for Papers directory listing, and the presentation system. It opens at /console/web-chair.

The console gives you these tools without needing the General Chair to hand over their own login: the same communication and presentation features available in the Conference Leadership Console are surfaced here for whoever holds the Web Chair role.

When you use it

Open this console whenever you're responsible for what the public and your participants see online — posting announcements, running channels, editing the website, advertising your Call for Papers on the Airballoon directory, or managing the presentation program.

The tabs

  1. 1

Announcements — broadcast updates to your participants. This is the same tool used in the Conference Leadership Console — see Announcements.

  2. 2

Channels — set up and moderate discussion channels. Same tool as in the Leadership Console — see Channels.

  3. 3

Website — build and edit your conference's public website. Same tool as in the Leadership Console — see Website.

  4. 4

CFP — post and manage your conference's Call for Papers listing on the public Airballoon CFP directory. This tab is distinctive to the Web Chair — see CFP listing.

  5. 5

Presentation System — run the on-site/virtual program. Same tool as in the Leadership Console — see Presentation System.

Picking a conference

If you're Web Chair on more than one conference, the console first shows a grid of cards — pick the conference you want, then the five tabs appear. With access to a single conference, it opens straight to the tabs.

The CFP tab is the one to learn here

Announcements, Channels, Website, and Presentation System work exactly as they do for Conference Leadership, so follow those existing guides. The CFP tab is unique to your role — read its page next.
