Reviewer Assignments

Approve the reviewers proposed for your papers — and, when your PC enables it, assign reviewers to your papers yourself from two phase-gated sub-views.

Purpose

The Reviewer Assignments tab is where reviewers get onto your papers. It works in one of two shapes depending on a PC setting:

  • By default the tab is your Pending Approvals queue: the PC Chair or the auto-assignment algorithm proposes reviewers for your papers, and you approve, modify, or reject them.
  • When your PC enables AC reviewer assignment for the program, the tab gains a sub-view switcher with two views — Assign reviewers to your papers (where you pick reviewers yourself) and Pending Approvals (the same approval queue).

The tab badge shows the number of papers with pending approvals.

When you use it

  • Whenever the dashboard alert says papers need your attention.
  • To confirm proposed reviewers so they get notified and can start reviewing.
  • To staff your papers directly, when your program lets Area Chairs assign reviewers.

Walkthrough

  1. 1

Open the Area Chair Console, select your program, and click Reviewer Assignments.

  2. 2

If the assignment switcher is shown (your PC enabled AC reviewer assignment), start on Assign reviewers to your papers. Pick a reviewer from your program's committee, multi-select which of your papers to assign them to, and assign. Each row shows how many reviewers a paper already has and flags papers the reviewer is already on or conflicts with.

  3. 3

Switch to Pending Approvals (or, if the switcher is not shown, you land here directly). Each card lists a paper and its proposed reviewers with their reviewer numbers and affinity scores.

  4. 4

For each paper, Approve All the proposed reviewers, Reject them, or View Paper to inspect it first. Use Approve All Pending to clear the whole queue at once. Approving notifies the reviewers.

Tips

The assignment sub-view is opt-in

The Assign reviewers to your papers sub-view appears only when the PC Chair turns on AC reviewer assignment for your program. If you only see the approval queue, your PC is keeping reviewer assignment centralized — propose reviewers from the Actions tab or the Dashboard's Suggest Reviewers quick action instead.

You can only assign your own papers

When you assign reviewers yourself, the paper list is restricted to the papers you are the Area Chair of, and you pick from the program's committee pool — not the whole platform.

Conflicts block assignment

A reviewer flagged as conflicting with a paper is held back. Only override a conflict if you are certain it is incorrect; otherwise pick a different reviewer.
