Escalations
Triage issues raised by your Area Chairs, raise your own, and pass the serious ones up to the Program Chair from the Escalations tab.
Purpose
The Escalations tab is your issue queue. It collects the escalations your Area Chairs raise to you for the program — unresponsive reviewers, potential conflicts of interest, review-quality concerns, missing reviews, and more — and lets you record your own as well. You can move each issue through Pending → In Review → Resolved, and escalate the ones that need higher attention to the Program Chair.
When you use it
- To work through issues your ACs have flagged.
- To log a problem you've spotted yourself.
- To hand a serious issue up to the Program Chair when it's beyond your remit.
Walkthrough
- 1
Open the Senior Area Chair Console, select your program, and open the Escalations tab.
- 2
Read the stats badges — Pending, In Review, Resolved, and Total — then use the filter buttons (Pending is the default) and the search box to focus the list.
- 3
Each escalation card shows its type, priority, and status badges, the related paper and Area Chair, and the issue description. Use Mark Resolved, Back to Pending, or Reopen to move it through its lifecycle.
- 4
Click View Paper (when a paper is attached) to open it, or Escalate to PC to send the issue to the Program Chair — this notifies them and marks the escalation resolved on your side.
- 5
Click New Issue to log one yourself: choose a type and priority, give it a title (required) and description, then Create Escalation.
Tips
Use the status controls for issues you can handle within your area; reserve Escalate to PC for problems that genuinely need the Program Chair — it routes a notification to them with the issue's context attached.
In the current build, status changes and issues you create with New Issue are held in your current session and are not yet saved back to the database, so they may not persist on reload. Escalate to PC does send a stored notification to the Program Chair. Confirm persistence behavior with your deployment.
